While listening to Ian Smith Pete heard:USR Courier V.8

G'day Ian

IS> I'd like to hear about it in a little more detail, too ..
 IS> anyone?

PC> I've since found if i just disable the V.8 CI tones i still get
 PC> a V34 connect it's only when i disable V.8 all together that i
 PC> only get a V.FC connect.

IS> Seems to be the story - is that the usual way of trying for a
IS> V.fc connect instead? It's sounding like I need to find me a
 IS> copy of V.8 ..

It's not the usually way to force a V.FC connect but more of a side
effect, most modems have a "disable V.34" option, on the Netcomm
Smartmodem it's *C the USR Courier uses S56=64
