DA>I've decided that my first deer will be taken with a 12 ga slug or round
DA>ball that I cast and load myself.
I recommend the round ball route -- it's more traditional, and you get
to hunt earlier in the season. Besides, it's easier to make a muzzle
loading rifle shoot well than it is to develop an accurate slug load.
I'd suggest looking at the Lyman Plains Rifle in .54 caliber if you go
the round ball route -- it's a good rifle for the money, and I heartily
recommend using a BIG round ball for deer.
