One local fella shopped around and got a USR Sportster for $425, must be 6
months ago.  He was quoted well over $500 some places.  Try HexaTech (if
that's how it's spelled; maybe Melbourne?)  Might do better than that by
now.

I'm not sure which others of the better mid-range V.34 modems are under
$400 yet.  I would suggest you don't be even slightly tempted to get a
V.fc-only modem at this later stage of their lifecycle, though, despite the
$50 saving.

I hear the Spirit Vipers are quite good, and they can be had for $350 or so.

There are probably quite a few others that are ok too in that price range;
I just haven't had them calling here - I'm still running 14400, so don't
take too much notice of me .. :)
