subject: v.34 Split Speeds

Hi Will,

[Thus spake Will Trives unto Sunny Leung:]

SL> The best thing about split speeds IMO is what happens at the higher
SL> end of the speed spectrum e.g. 31.2k or 33.6k transmission or reception
SL> if the phone lines can't cope with 31.2k or 33.6k both ways. 31.2k and
SL> 33.6k speeds will become more frequent once the revised v.34 protocol
SL> gets approved this year and Rockwell and co. release their chips.
 WT>
WT> Yeah, it's just a little annoying when you're on the lower speed ;)

Dunno, getting 31.2/28.8k is better than a straight 28.8/28.8k connect
:-) Of course, not as cool as a 33.6/33.6k connect .

SL> I'm glad you like your modem. I certainly like mine :-)

WT> Yeah, i'd be very happy with a courier. But banksia has been very
 WT> reliable.

That's good to hear. I used to think of Banksias as somewhat expensive
Rockwell modems.

Sunny
