The book did cause a considerable stir at the time as I recall, but
interest faded fast when about the only people who gave any credit to it
were the far-right "We hate Woodard and let's blame anyone but
Nixon" crowd.

The writer for the Columbia Journalism Review got it all wrong. He
apparently believed there was really food for thought in the book, that it
would keep the alleged controversy alive perhaps for years. In fact there
was no controversy, at least not in the long run because within a few
months the book faded from view at just another Nixon apologetic.

It is kind of strange really that anyone would even remember that book now,
let alone reading it only recently.
