SCOTT CHRISTENSON TYPED IN A MESSAGE TO NATHAN BOLLINGER: Can anyone say
that Rush Limbaugh is "interesting" in Africa? (I know what's
coming, I better leave!)
MIKE SPRAGUE COMMENTS: I presume that Limbaugh is ignored by nearly
everybody outside of the USA. If Africans were listening and comprehended,
they would soon stop fighting amongst themselves and organize a retaliatory
military operation against the United States.
On a related subject, I am often horrified by the things that I hear early in
the morning (Eastern Time Zone) on the 120 meter international broadcast band
and late in the evening just outside of the 49 meter band. Somebody or some
people are giving air time to some pretty scary fundamental Christian
preachers. It went over the top a couple of weeks ago when I heard a rant
and rave concerning the supposed fact that the Bible teaches that children
should be kept in line by occasional corporal punishments. Some examples
were given -- holding a hand to the burner on a kitchen range or a back-hand
slap. Now imagine what joy this must give to critics of the USA.
It has been a few years since I have left a post on this echo. The
inclination developed after I got my hands on a computer that scrolls text
fast enough for me to easily skip the long transcriptions of DX programs and
the multiply-posted commercial advertisements. The monitoring reports from
the Mir space station have been interesting and worthwhile.
