Well since we got onto the topic.  Im going to throw my 2 cents in.
The *only* thing I liked about the macro implementaion (other than the
fact that it existed) was that you could configure what "items" where
considered to be in a particular color group.  For instance, I had mine 
configured to highlight operating system library calls (I do a lot of 
embedded stuff) from standard C calls.  So although at this point Id take 
almost any form of highlighting, it would be nice at least to have the 
option of configuring the behavior like the cold colors macro did.
