The locked driver line was left in the config.sys though it appeared
to finish cleanly and the list file that it referred to was gone. I
plan on doing an absolutely clean (formatted) install as soon as I
can, fortunately the machine is quite functional in its current state.

That's what it seems to be, glad I'm not alone with that too. Tonight
I'll try to do the format, install the base Warp 4.0 then NS/2, followed
by FP3. I hope that cures it but NS needs to get out a fix if it's a
universal problem. Thanks James.
