Marty this is not the first time this has happened this season but the other
times I did finally get your picks by the day of the race or early the next
morning.  This time I didn't get this message until today (Wednesday) a full 4
days after the race.  Normally I would go ahead and accept them if this was
the first or second time it has happened but your picks seem to fall into a
bottomless pit some weeks.

This time I actually checked the path of both this message and your picks
which was posted 5/12 but didn't arrive until after this message did.  This
message went through 8 different systems before it got to me.  The one of your
picks only went through 5 systems.  I have no idea why they differ because
routing is supposed to go the same no matter what unless someone drops out of
FidoNet or changes their polling.

Please from now on, like I've said in the past, send me the picks via email or
via the mailing list if you don't get my (I got em!) response from me the day
before the race.  I'll try to figure out what is going wrong with your picks
but since this has happened so much this year, and because I didn't get the
picks until 4 days after the race I'll have to let your last picks stand.

Please try and understand my position.  The first and second year of the
contest we had folks continually send in picks late and since its so easy to
change the date on your computer and send a message dated earlier than what it
really is, I had to make up the rules that we go by today.

And I knew that Janis was down for a few hours this past weekend upgrading
her system but she still posted messages Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so she
was only down for a few hours at most.

I hope you understand and please don't leave the contest over these 15 points.
At the end of this season if you would have won because of these 15 points I
will probably reconsider and give it to you but I think to be fair to everyone
I need to enforce the rules of the picks arriving before midnight the day
before qualifying to get the bonus for pole pick and arriving before midnight
the day before the race.  Talk at ya l8er and if you want to know the paths
these 2 messages made let me know and I'll let you know.

PS Don't know if I ever asked or not do you have access to the internet and
email?  If not maybe I can find another way for you to get your picks to me in
an emergency.
