EO> Yes, this is a part of it... It takes an older child to understand
EO> that sort of thing, especially if the family isn't that strictly

BL> No, I guess we're more scientific than religious, though we never
BL> considered it that way before.
I like that quote from _The King and I_, where The King asks Mrs. Anna to
explain to him why "Moses said" the Earth was made in 6 days, while Schience
says it took many centuries... Her reply was that men of faith and men of
science were tackling how to explain the same miracle, from different
backgrounds.
EO> Many religious leaders have dithered and battled over such things.

BL> I think the things that bother him most are the subtle knockdowns of

BL> him to look for these inaccuracies as learning experiences.
That works too, especially if you start getting into the issue of "preaching"
tolerance versus "practicing" it. (Otherwise nicknamed Theology 101)
BL> I have not had a hard time being religious yet still believing in
BL> science, after my Mom helped me through my teenhood. I hope he can

That's probably easier with Homeschool families -- "the teacher said" doesn't
conflict with family values as much... (chuckle)
BL> But, I do think we'll be getting secular books from now on! This is
BL> _not_ my flavor of "Christianity"!
Amen! People don't believe me when I tell them that the Catholicism I grew
up with never slammed the "take-offs" which is the bulk of Christianity
today... And, is obliquely supportive of my current theology.
BL> ... If Christ came back today, he would not want to be "Christian"!
Although one young man (age 14/15) I know in another echo defines
"Christianity" as those who practice Christ's teachings, versus
"Churchianity" which follows the teachings of different Churches over
Christ's message...
B*B!
