No, it uses a general /etc/joe/bbsjoerc.
In your home/$USER is a edit.msg file and a data.msg file. If you copy these
into mbse home directory and steal door.sys (you have to login and start the
editor) then you may be able to run the editor script as user mbse.
In that way you will see what goes wrong.
Best is that you steal the files when you are logged in, some files are
erased during logoff.
I used that method to see why the latest joe version wouldn't work.
