I would have.  I've done similar just to get a slow-motion capability for
the streaming video play/manipulation package called FFMPEG... for a
_single_ .mpeg file.  Some say I have too much time on my hands.  However
my wife says she doesn't need any computer shop/tech hotline, with me
around to pester.

There again, I'm the one who cheated and set up U'u to pass the USB printer
onto the XP vBox for our LAN clients to use.
