subject: NAVTEX and ELF ?

Hello All!
I'm getting interested in monitoring the lower portions of the
spectrum, and I'm wondering if anyone has had success with NAVTEX
(518 Khz) and/or anything (other than beacons) in the freqs below
~ 100Khz ? What I know about NAVTEX is what the TNC OpManual says.
Any additional information on that subject would be appreciated...
I have an MFJ-1278 MultiMode/Gray Level TNC, and have heard some
signals around 70 Khz, but haven't been able to get them to decode
with ANY of the modes available.
I'm interested in doing some experimenting with ELF freqs, too.
My tranceiver (TS-140S) goes down to 30 Khz. Is this low enough ?
The other rcvr is a Yaesu FRG-7 and a DX-380. Will either of these
be able to operate on ELF ? What do I need in the way of a xmtr ?
Are there any schematics available for homebrew ELF transmitters ?
And then there is the array... :) What are my choices there, for
a limited space installation ?
Sincerely,
           Bruce - kb6lwn - ck1@pacbell.net
