I looks like your modem is resorting to XON/XOFF (software) flow
control, set your modem to CTS/RTS flow control via AT&K3 then save
with AT&W now in telix set CTS/RTS flow control on all others off
ie.

Alt-O -> Terminal_Options

[...]
J - XON/XOFF software flow control .. Off
K - CTS/RTS hardware flow control ... On
L - DSR/DTR hardware flow control ... Off
