For sure, I didn't make a statement one way or the other about who,
if anyone, was violating protocol. I don't know. I do know that
it can be worked around on the USR side though, because I can use
another modem here and it works. And in fact, they have already
created the workaround - disable V32terbo on the USR. Since I don't
have another V32terbo modem available, I can't tell whether the USR
could provide a better workaround than simply disabling V32terbo.
Actually, my Thunder was V32terbo, but it was even WORSE than the
Courier, so the Courier is still the best V32terbo implementation
I have used. Note that I am STILL not saying that the Courier is
in any way violating the V32bis or V32terbo protocols at all, or
even that they have a lousy implementation of them.
Oh, and yes, the Supra is a Rockwell V32bis, just like the Maestro.

Well, maybe they should read more carefully when I make a blanket
statement that it is a minor problem which I was able to work
around within 5 minutes of realising what was happening.

PE> It's FAR WORSE than the Courier. Mainly because a Maestro SE

PE> failure of a USR Sportster to connect with EC on 50% of times.
The Courier is able to work around this problem by forcing a lower
maximum V.34 rate of 26400 or something (still to be determined).
PC> How are your phone lines, have you ever had them checked out.
They were checked out once. The technician was not impressed that
I had called him out on the basis of my modem's MR light flashing.
That was 2 years ago. BFN. Paul.
