Yea, I've been looking for the right deal on a lathe myself. The size I
would like to find also happens to be the most popular; something like a
12"x40" gear head with a gap bed. Some refer to this as a
tool-room lathe. Of course these lathes have very good resale values
because of the demand for them.
As far as bargains go the big ones can be had for very little
money(sometimes). big=20"x120" etc. My shop won't easily
accomodate this machine. It will be very difficult to move and will
probably require 3 phase power.
