Hi! Ed, On Thu, 18 Apr 13, you wrote to me: EV> Later on I'll get a newer version to play with. EV> Every time I use the word WITH at the end of a sentence I think about EV> when I was in the 11th Grade in High School and I asked my English EV> Teacher if I should never end a sentence using the word with. We (us, over here) do it all the time. The way you use the word there, it isn't being used as a preposition. So, don't worry. Mind you, I'd recommend you quit talking to teachers. ;-) PQ>> EV> I'm wondering if Jean will be giving me a RASPBERRY of the PQ>> EV> Bronx Cheer variety? PQ>>Oh, is that where they hail from? :) EV> That's what I always heard it called in the area where I was raised. Here I am, having grown up with the notion that it was a British thing. Thanks for the insight, Ed. EV> I listened to You just now and You sounded to me as anyone from Your EV> Area of the world would sound. Thanks for listening. EV> I remember a fellow singing a song that said something about EV> Tan my hide when I died clyde, and something about tieing a Kangeroo. It was made famous (here, I think...) by a bloke named Rolf Harris, around 30 or 40 years ago. He was kind of a stand-up comedian; an entertainer really, with quite some musical & artistic ability. He used to do quite a bit of large-scale (big) on-stage portrait & landscape painting as a part of his shows. I've just been on a trip through la-la land (YouTube) and picked up all sorts of video clips I've been looking for (sub-conciously), for years. Anyhow... the one you're thinking of is at [ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lofgud4wLLo ]. That's him doing a show at the Royal Albert Hall (London town?). Another one to look for is the one with him toying with some didgeridoos, and him explaining the breathing technique required to play them. BTW, Rolf has been living in England for quite some time. I'm inclined to say over 20 years. Unfortunately he's been named in some sort of sex scandal over there. I like to think that he's been named unjustly. EV> and there was that fellow (RIP) who loved animals I've seen on EV> Cable Television when I was visiting someone who had their TV set on EV> the Animal Planet station. That would have been Steve Irwin. His zoo, and family, are just down the road from me. Ooh, about 100 miles or so down the road. :-) EV> Another local HAM came on the air and told me not to worry about the EV> fellow who challenged me, because he did that all the time to other EV> travelers. EV> Did I put a Smile on Your Face Paul? Oh, Ed. You know just where my funny bone is, alrightie. Of course. It got a full-on belly-wobblin' gufaw! 8-) Cheers, Paul. ... You know you're a BBS junkie when your best friend/s are BBS users. --- Paul's Win98SE VirtualBox* Origin: Quinn's Post - Maryborough, Queensland, OZ (3:640/384) SEEN-BY: 3/0 633/267 640/296 384 954 1384 712/0 620 848 @PATH: 640/384 954 712/848 633/267 |
