TG> Hmm, Aluminum flashes at high velocity, IE: friction (Thermite).
Only if the aluminum is in a powdered (or other finely-divided) form.
Thermite is a mixture of powdered aluminum and iron oxide, which is why
the aluminum will ignite...and reliably only if a primer mix is used to
generate very high temperature. Some flashbulbs use fine aluminum wire.
But the aluminum skillet of yours won't ignite on a red-hot stove burner,
because the aluminum is not finely-divided. Even if you let the skillet boil
dry with the burner on high, the aluminum melts and doesn't burn.
