My proftpd.conf has a setting "ShowSymlinks on/off". I'm just getting it
setup so I haven't played with it yet but I was concidering if I should turn
them off. If a successful download isn't possible it may be a requirement.
In that case though ftp users only see the 8x3 filename and that may not be
desireable.
I've heard good things about vsftpd too as others have mentioned, I think
I'll put that online and see how it goes. I've been meaning to do that for
ages but have been avoiding the learning curve.. ;)
