JW>>> PS I would prefer not to upgrade to an AXE line as it would

 JW>>> involve a number change.

RB>> But if your exchange can offer you a digital line on requesting it (

RB>> $10 & a number change) now, Then this means that part of
the exchange

RB>> is digital and therefore in the near future they will upgrade to All

RB>> digital. ( In their own time ) So if you wait a bit you will end up

RB>> with digital switching and still retain your original number

 JW>

JW> Unfortunately, my wife and I would like to retain our current number.

JW> Our current number (049) 58 xxxx is on the old type where the digital

 JW> starts (049) 50 xxxx.

I've been through that as well, I know what you're feeling.

JW> If I cannot get the old line "fixed-up" I would prefer
to keep it and

JW> get a second line line for the computer, but unfortunately I think $173

JW> is a bit steep (and I can't afford it) to install a second line when

JW> there is no digging and hard work to be done as they will only use the

JW> second pair that is in the house. The cost is still the same as a new

 JW> line.

Been through this too.

JW> I have no idea how long I would have to wait for our existing number to

 JW> be

 JW> converted to digital.

niether did I, Then I ended up moving. Ahh, I thought my problems were solved.

I got two digital lines. Now I have noise and worse connects on both those

lines than I had with the old ARE 11 exchange at the old place.

JW> It is definately the line that is inadequate. I tested it at work

JW> yesterday dragging the whole system there and through a PABX line

JW> it connected 26400/ARQ a couple of times first go.

JW> At home it does not even retrain all the time to the best connect as I

 JW> have

JW> it on autodetect. It just goes on 28800 or 26400 and spits the dummy

 JW> when a

JW> whole lot of grabage gets thrown up.

 JW> Regards

 JW> John

JW> ... I was sitting, waiting, wondering, WILL I EVER GET AN ANSWER?

Yes and THE ANSWER IS NO, I f you ever ask someones oppinion, the answer is

ALWAYS NO, So I never ask!
