Thanks for the reply Bill - No I don't want to dump Win95. But I will be
evaluating OS/2 in the not too distant future with a view to dual boot.
My immediate problem relates to the Spirit SMI. Yes it does require Dos
drivers to be loaded at boot, and they are. The driver is again setup by
Windows.
I had some problem initially with data x/fer, but that is now OK. I can now
not send/recieve FAX's.
During the instal of WinFax (this is the prog. supplied with the modem, I
have also tried FaxWorks with the appropriate settings, with no joy) it is
necessary to register the prog. by FAX. This works fine, but will not send
after the install is finished (perhaps I should set up my FAX and send it
as reg. - I joke)
Once the drivers are setup, the s/ware monitors the modem port and whenever
a prog - in this case WinFax - tries to access the port, the control s/ware
is sent first to prepare the modem for use.
This process is working perfectly in both Dos and Windows progs. for data
but not FAX.
As far as I can tell all is set up correctly. It's almost totally automatic.
There is a small problem in that the s/ware writes the device driver into the
System.INI 3 times instead of once (the same line 3 times in the same place).
I have left all 3 there with no effect - I have removed 2 of the 3 with the same
result.

  Any help would be appreciated.
  Regards Garry
