Hi. A simple polypropylene half-face
"disposable/maintenance-free" particulate respirator with two
elastic straps should be sufficient. For particulates the existence of
facial stubble or a beard should not be a problem. Simply do not position
the respirator too high on the nose and shape any metal nose tab once the
respirator is fitted. One strap positioned high on the head and the other
strap positioned low will help ensure a suitable face seal. Facial sweating
will also help create a suitable seal. If the inside of the respirator is
kept clean it can be used until the breathing resistance (from increasing
numbers of trapped particles) becomes uncomfortable. (Gas/vapour
respirators/filters are unsuitable for protecting against particulates. And
facial stubble or a beard prevents a suitable face seal being obtained for
such.) Regards, Gary Thompson
