KR> Do Tel$tra have any plans to convert their exchanges KR> over to a digital PCM network of any sort Thats essentially what it is already between the exchanges with the vast bulk of the inter exchange links now fibre optic and hence digital. Its digital right at the line card in a modern digital exchange, the only analog is on the copper pair to your house. And ISDN just takes the digital out the copper pairs to your house and turns it into analog at your phone itself. KR> or are we going to be stuck with an analouge network? Nope, and mostly arent now except on the line from your house to the phone exchange itself. Even on the older crossbar exchanges its converted to digital before it leaves the exchange normally. KR> It would be nice if they could since it would mean KR> that everyone could have a 64kbit/s link to their house. You can now, tho it aint cheap. 2 of those actually. The Coalition promised big changes on ISDN pricing etc, it remains to be seen what gets delivered on those promises tho. KR> What is the maximum capacity of this analouge network of ours, anyway? It hasnt been analog for a quite a while now. @EOT: ---* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 711/809 934 |
