subject: STATIC Procedure Question

BB| SUB DoIt (s$) STATIC
  | FUNCTION DoItAgain (s$) STATIC
  |
  | Anybody know what this does and why it matters?
It preserves the local variables in the procedure between calls. It's
generally faster, since the variables don't have to be re-created each
time the procedure is called, but the down side is the memory they use
isn't freed when the procedure is not running.
