A temporary work around is to add &k0 to your modem's AT string when calling
a BBS. The permanent solution is to call USR's Sportster technical support
number at 1-847-982-5151 and tell *them* that you have the "pausing bug"
problem with your Sportster. Be able to provide them with the serial number
for *your* modem, and whether the fixed ROM on your Sportster is in a socket
or is soldered to the board. If the ROM is socketed, USR will simply ship
you a replacement ROM (at no cost to you except for the phone call to them.)
On the other hand, if the ROM is *soldered* to the modem board, then you will
need to pay the shipping charges to *ship* your modem back to USR for repair
or replacement. USR will not charge anything for repairing the modem and
returning it to you. This is not conjecture, as I have actually done all of
the above and had to ship a Sportster back to USR for repair.
