A few months ago I listened to Bob Carver's new "Sunfire" amp. In
the "tube emulation" mode, there's a small but distinct muddiness
in the highs.

I forgot that the good analog stuff would always be good. I was
thinking of the digital part -- it's like video, where every time
they come out with a basic improvement, they put it into a new
format. Film people have it the easiest; the film format stays
the same, but the emulsions get better and better, so a 20-year-old
Arriflex is still current.
