| subject: | problem with the `e` key |
A friend of mine has a Mac that says has a problem with the "e" key. He says that every time he presses it, he gets the french letter e with the l'accent augu. Pardon the spelling. He wants the regular letter "e" back. What commands does he need to accomplish that? I was researching this online a bit and can't find anything specific. He says the problem is a permanent one (the same condition every time the computer is restarted). I have not seen the computer myself, nor do I really know anything about Macs. He tells me his system is a "4000". But I can't find anything on the web about such a model. I'm assuming he's really not sure what to report for the model and OS. I sent him an email with the following.. (but I'm not sure if this makes any sense for any of today's more recent Macs): [1] The only thing I can suggest at this point is to go the ControlPanels folder and look for "Keyboard" panel. In the list of keyboard layouts, select English. [2] Also make sure that "keyboard synchronization" is disabled. Keyboard-sync will automatically switch to a foreign keyboard layout when you change to a specific font that you pre-select. Can anyone HELP me with this? Is there a better fido echo where I can reach active readers about problems like this? --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
