That may be a possibility. Now that I have software that makes truss
analysis easy (once I convince myself that it's accurate and that I'm using
it correctly)...I may make a Serrurier truss. Also, I'm leaning toward
connecting the OTA to the fork arms by putting a box frame at the balance
point of the OTA...which sets me up nicely for a Serrurier truss
arrangement.
Also, if I stick with the square truss...there is room in the four
'corners' of the truss (not in the way of the mirror) where I could
place compliant hinges (essentially like the ones in your focuser) to allow
main mirror focusing. Hmmm...four compliant hinges...gotta make sure I
align the axes and degrees of freedom properly so the four hinges don't
fight and bind each other through the range of focus travel. Will that be
difficult?
