Mulling over Tony Frosdick to All 11 Oct 2004

TF> Just read about the Germans banning nuns from wearing habbits in
 TF> classrooms.

TF> This is on top of the French banning all religious apparel.

TF> In England it's illegal to sell potatoes in pounds and ounces. (I
 TF> kid you not).

TF> Can anybody tell me why the arseholes in power want to rule our
TF> lives in such minute detail?

To protect us.

The KGB & Stasi did it to enslave & oppress the citizens; these people
do it to keep us free from terrorists and evildoers, (and greengrocers).

Wait 'til the State issues your biometric-enabled "smart" ID card; it
will be a crime to buy or sell potatoes without it. That will be evidence
that you will cut them up into chips to eat with your fish, & could place
your kids in danger of becoming obese, so the State will need to seize
your potatoes (and kids) and put them into institutions for their own
safety.

If the State permits you to visit the kids, GPS satellites & RFID
detectors will be busy keeping the roads safe for you, so that you
can't enter a "party officials only" sector, exceed the speed limit,
drive an over-large vehicle etc etc.

If you want to protest, the authorities will provide a "free speech zone"
where you can pour it all out, and no-one will notice, as long as you
keep behind the cyclone fence.

Incidentally, Victoria, Australia, is about to outlaw smoking in all
enclosed buildings apart from private dwellings (for now?) ... pubs,
clubs, restaurants & the casino, but not the rooms used by overseas
"high-rollers".

Some are more equal than others.

Victorian buildings to be smoke free by 2007

The Bracks Government will ban smoking inside all buildings in Victoria,
except private homes, by 2007.

Premier Steve Bracks says smoking bans will be extended to include all
enclosed areas inside hotels, clubs and railway stations.

The announcement comes after Tasmania decided to ban smoking in hotels
and clubs from January 2006.
