Hi, All.
I'm in the process of setting up a new webcite. It's called "A Guide
to Refractor Objectives for Astronomical Telescopes" and is meant as a
kind of extension to the information given in Rutten and van Venrooij. I'm
hoping to give a pretty comprehensive guide to achromats (cemented and
airpaced) and apochromats (doublets, triplets, quadruplets made with
fluorite, short flint, and ED glasses)--as well as the Schupmann medial.
At present I don't plan to cover photographic objectives per se, but
only visual ones. However, I will try to give an idea of how the fast
AstroPhysics, TMB, and TeleVue lenses may be constructed.
It will take some time to put all this stuff together, but I've already
begun and would welcome constructive advice! The URL is:
http://alice/~rogerc/index.html.
Of course, with Bob May's and Michael Linder's help I've already got up a
cite about making achromats at:
http://bobmay.astronomy.net/refractor/Refrindex.htm and
http://www.atmsite.org/contrib/Ceragioli/refractor/
This later cite will be revised in a few months to include updated
information and advice on making apochromats, which I'm actively designing
and building now. Any constructive advice for the improvement of either
cite would be welcome.
Cheers,
Roger
