You can't force freedom and democracy upon people who don't want it,
haven't earned it, and don't understand it.  We revolted against the king
of England and earned ours the hard way, and designed our own form of
government with guaranteed rights for citizens.  That's why it is
meaningful.  Our present exercise in nationbuilding is doomed to failure.
