A sort of similar gate relationship with Allen fired up a little while back
in the Fidonet Aviation echo where eventually Ward Dosche wound up
demanding that it be disconnected over a horrible profanity and name
calling rant typical of a lot of Internet Newsgroup behavior.

Hand copied and cross posted from that echo here for you is a sort of a
final message Allen wrote in the Aviation Echo. And this is *NOT* a
complaint about Allen nor about gated echos and our beloved Fidonet at all.
It just underscores how lonely it can get here:

As both of us are aware, there is also a very light traffic gateway/echo
relationship in I think at least one of the OS/2 echo areas. Where the two
interfaces, as I understand the process over time, have indeed been served
by the quality of people associated with both interfaces. And yes, I do
watch the Apple echo here in Fido as well. But have never been an Apple
afficiado. In fact, in all this time in Fido since 300 baud modems back in
the '70's when Net 117 here in College Station was actually bigger in Texas
Aggieland than Net 106 in Houston, I think this is my first post in the
Apple echo!

I understand the loneliness of the love for Fido, as well as some of the
very real feelings of those far smarter and more capable of writing than I
will ever be, like Coleridge's "Ancient Mariner":

"Alone, alone, oh all alone, alone on a wide, wide sea.
Alone, alone, oh all alone, and never a Saint took pity on me.
For water, water, everywhere, nor any drop to drink.
Water, water, everywhere, and all the boards did shrink!"

Written at 3:38 in the morning when I got awakened by a boom box truck on
the street outside the house, for the forth night in a row about this time.
With an iPod plugged in the amps?

--> Sleep well; OS/2's still awake! ;)
