I'm placing this request in several areas in hopes of getting it to
the widest number of users I can. Any serious responses will be
appreciated.
My problem deals with the initialization string I use with my modem, a
Rockwell 14400 voice/data/fax V32/42bis and connection with a USR
Sportster, ext.14400 V everything, in a PCBoard enviornment. Using
virtually ANY initialization string, I have been able to connect at 14400
V32/LAPQ/ARQ/V42 bis/LAPM with literally every other system I have
tried; and I get GREAT transfer rates in U/L or D/L, and NO screen
garbage while online with these other systems.
The sysop and I have tried all kinds of combinations... on BOTH ends,
with no improvement. I have, since I got this modem, become reasonably
knowledgeable with init strings and the commands involved, yet I can't
seem to hit on the right combination.
Any ideas out there?
Richard
