BL> Does anyone know of a terminal program that can send BL> RI (Ring Indicate) to force a bbs programme to think BL> it is getting a call from a phone connection rather BL> than from a Null modem/cable connection. Well, you could wire up one end's DTR to RI the other - but I don't know of any BBS or other comms program that looks at the RI signal anyway. Most look for incoming RING and then go ahead and answer (usually, send ATA), but most will respond positively to a positive carrier detect (DCD) signal. So, one end raises DTR, the other end sees DCD. Drop DTR, the other end sees carrier drop. You might need to send 'RING' as the dial string from one end, to get the other to try answering .. but most will just go on DCD, possibly requiring to see a CONNECT string from the 'modem' thereafter.
