You have hit the nail on the head. I'd imagine that the demand for a
DC/PV-powered air conditioner is very low, thus causing extremely high prices
if someone was to try to build such units. The first one always costs a
million dollars, but they get a lot cheaper after a few thousand are out the
door. :-)
