I have had success with using foam and towels to push the plastic over the 
mold.  Its hard and trickey depending on the size.  If you are doing a small 
canopy for example the mold has extend beyond where you want it to be. When 
pushing the plastic there is no finish so you push beyond where you wand and 
cut it back for the finished edge.  You would be better vaccuum forming. You 
can buy a small rig for less than 100 and it will last a lifetime.
