The document you provided a link to looks like it contains a fixed width =
font. Where do you see proportional characters in it? Also notice the =
fluctiation in the height of the characters.
I read elsewhere that the selectric had a superscript key of some sort. = I
could easily see a type ball having a "th", "nd",
"rd", etc. = characters. Are you sure this was not available?

IBM Selectric's didn't use proportional spaced fonts. Here are the =
fonts that IBM Selectric Used
He points us to the Selectric Typewriter Museum at =
http://www.selectric.org/selectric/index.html.=20
(Sigh. Silly me! I had just been thinking about taking Mrs. Kerry Spot =
to the Selectric Typewriter Museum the other day.)
The available fonts are listed there:
10 Pitch Type Styles: Advocate, Bookface Academic 72, Delegate, =
Orator, Courier 72, Pica 72, Prestige Pica 72=20
12 Pitch Type Styles: Adjutant, Artisan 12, Courier 12 Italic, =
Scribe, Prestige Elite, Courier 12, Elite 72, Letter Gothic
Special Typing Applications: Light Italic, Script, Printing =
ANSI-OCR, Symbol 10, 108 OCR, Manifold 72, Symbol 12
To my layman's eye, none of those fonts look quite like Times New =
Roman, or the font on the CBS memo.
Numerous experts say you couldn't do the superscript "th" on any =
typewriter available in 1972, the same experts all state that there were =
a few typewriters around that did proportional spaced fonts but those =
typewriters cost $20,000 in 1972 dollars. Not likely to ever be at any =
Government office given how notoriously cheap they are for furnishings =
and fixtures, much less a National Guard Office. To think otherwise is =
just plainly ridiculous.
I personally owned an IBM selectric, and I can guarantee you that =
these documents are not in the fonts fond on an IBM Selectric and that =
the IBM Selectric could NOT do the superscript "th" that appears
in = these FAKED documents. I also owned the IBM model that was current =
just before the black selectrics with the balls came out. Neither did =
this type or a superscript "th".

The document appears to me to use a fixed width font. I don't know =
where you got your information about $20,000 typewriters, but the =
superscript "th" was possible using a common IBM Selectric of the
day. = The original Selectric was introduced in 1961. See
http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/IBM-Selectric-typewriter
It could print special symbols and different fonts. I could not find =
what they sold for back then, but I doubt it was anywhere close to =
$20,000. It was marketed as office equipment.

Even a cursory examination of the document which can be found here =
http://www.cbsnews.com/htdocs/pdf/BushGuardmay4.pdf shows its FAKE.
The document is from 1972, and in 1972 people and the National =
Guard used TYPEWRITERS. Typewriters used a fixed pitch courier font. =
This FAKED document is in a PROPORTIONAL font that only typewriters =
costing more than $20,000 1972 dollars could imitate, and NO TYPEWRITER =
(not even a $20,000 one) could create the superscript "th" that
is in = this FAKED document. Microsoft Word of course uses proportional
fonts = and automatically creates the superscript "th" found in
this FAKED = document.
CBS and the democraps show their slime again. This could backfire =
on Kerry with such an obviously faked document.
There are problems with the signature as well that makes experts =
think the signature is a cut a paste job of a signature from another = document.
