What I see with her spouting all this false information
is a REALLY bad situation. She's apparently a nurse - or at
least says she is - and from that position she is giving out
all this bad information.
To TOP that one off (the dissimination of bad information) she
is FOR the incarceration of people who are addicted to drugs.
Now, I can see people being arrested for rape, robbery,
assault, etc, but she wants to haul people off the streets
who are addicted to drugs and throw them in prison
FOR THE PURPOSE of rehabilitation...to get them to give
up drug use.
THAT in my book AND in the "book" of Alcoholics Anonymous
AND Narcotics Anonymous (both of which I qualified for and
attended) makes ZERO sense.
The ONLY way a person will give up ANY drug is if they
truely *WANT* to.
And....to TOP THAT ONE OFF....not only is her whole idea of how to
treat people with drug addiction in our society wrong, her attitude
of what needs to be "done with" drug addicts is VERY wrong.
Her method of incarceration as part of the "treatment" would lead to
MORE people not only being treated as criminals and labeled as such
in our society - and turning to crime to survive - many would, no
doubt, TURN into criminals out of resentment of what the "system"
did to them.
All this coming from a person who is a nurse. Unbelieveable!
I don't know if this counts for anything in this echo, but I went
to college and entered the Nursing program over here at Southwestern
Oregon Community College. I had to leave after two years because
of money problems.
Anyway...the reason I'm saying all this is because a nurse is trained
NOT ONLY to take care of a person's PHYSICAL well being. They're trained
to work with the person to help the person on a psychological level as
time allows.
What that boils down to is this: You DON'T throw a person into prison
to break them of an addiction and as such turn them into a hateful
human being; hateful of the system and of the society which labeled
them as a criminal. That kind of "treatment" not only can turn folks
INTO criminals - where they weren't criminals before - but make them
say to themselves, "Well shit, since I'm labeled as a criminal I might
as well act as a criminal", which might very well lead them TO the
hard drugs.
I didn't mean to ramble so much. It's just that this woman is doing
SO MUCH damage with her "RN" label that it REALLY sickens me.
She's working for the very system which works towards putting more
and more Americans in prison. Terrible situation!
