So the bride says she wants to see Raul Malo when he comes to town.  Is
that the blind guy who sings opera?  No, the guy who sounds like Roy
Orbison.  So I dodge the Andrea Bocelli bullet.  I figure how bad could it
be.  It's Malo's Xmas show.  An evening of "White Christmas"a and
"You're Only Lonely"  I've been drug to worse.

So we go to the Birchmere, a club here in Alexandria.  Serves burgers,
pizzas, sandwiches, liquor (important for some of the shows I've been to). 
Well, Raul played "You're Only Lonely" and some Carols.  What
surprised me was the rest of the show.  Great honky-tonk.  Best show I've
seen there since Little Feat.  He had a fantastic piano player. Guy's name
was something like Sugary.

So my advice is if you get a chance to see him take it.
