subject: Newline Character

RS> I can't make any guarantees that a newline is always
RS> ASCII 10 on all systems, but I think that's standard C.
We can't be sure what tab, carriage return, line feed, or
alarm will be on any system. They are defined individually
by each compiler according to its environment.
We only see the '\t', '\r', '\n', and '\a' standard values.
What the compiler sees is not relevant until we want to
handle the data produced by the use of these characters,
such as when manually interpreting a text file produced by
   use of these characters.
