Given that Saddam has been in custody and out of action for more than 3
years and given the continuing (others would say increasing) level of
violence in Iraq, there is no reason to think that his conviction (what a
truly appalling judicial sham that was) and his execution will change
anything.

As for "cut and run" ... how can that possibly be?  President
Bush has already spoken of "mission accomplished".
