Here are the logged results of a floating V.34 call to USR's board in
Skokie, Illinois, and as you can clearly see, conditions don't get a whole
lot worse than this.  Having said that, I was still able to maintain this
particular connect until it reached its logical conclusion, several minutes
later. 

A subsequent call however, with both V.34 and V.FC disabled, attempted to
negotiate itself into oblivion.  No matter what I did, even forcing a lower
V.32bis link rate, it would NOT connect.  Not under any circumstances.

These stats are a pretty graphic example of the inherent value of fancy
protocols like V.34 (provided, of course, that they actually work).  :)
