    Bruce: If the coax were perfect (constant Z and no loss) then the
    VSWR is the same at all places. IF there is a VSW, then the exact
    impedance seen by the xmitter will vary with the lenght of coax to
    the load, which is why cutting to lenght may help in some cases. If
    you want the true match to the antenna, it is recommenced the bridge
    be placed right at the antenna, which may be difficult to do, and
    your body can affect the tuning. I think most of us place the bridge
    at the xmitter, which is ok if the VSWR is very low. I'm sure you
