(Ack, there is a good book, written by Jerry Baker, [it has a wealth of 
information,] that will explain that grapes bear on one-year-old stems... 
after that, those stems no longer bear (but, of course, the stems that grow 
*from* ... well, I'm getting this tooooo complicated, and of course, it 
isn't!, so let me quite.   :)  Anyway, it is a good source of information...
