Not to worry, Dave, my tube stuff has been in a box somewhere for over
a year. I should have gotten them out before I posted. I know so
little about theory that I never make a fundamental change without
consulting the experts. I was bitten once by 110, arm to arm, and
decided then that I did not ever need to be bitten by the lethal
wattages that tube power supplies are capable of.
Your admonishment is perfectly valid -- those of us who are not
experts need to keep our non-expertise in mind. I remember the
RCA Receiving Tube Manual talking about how to set gains -- I just
don't remember the details, and will have to look them up before
I plug in the soldering iron.
Does anybody know why it's called an iron, when the tip is copper?
