| subject: | Help finding Apple II game |
Hi, everybody! I recently discovered a website called Virtual Apple http://www.virtualapple.com/ which has about 1,000 old Apple II and IIgs disk images and an emulator that runs them. It's great because I've been able to play my old favorites again like Karateka and Taipan. However, I've not been able to locate some games I enjoyed playing because I don't remember the actual names. One I am looking for was a galaxy conquest game. You'd send ships off to conquer planets. It would sometimes take several turns for the ships to reach a planet, and if you timed it right reinforcements from several sources could converge on the same turn. Defending ships would rise from the planet and the battle would be waged off-screen with you only getting the summary as little * symbols as ships were destroyed. I think it was pretty much all text with little if any graphics. Does anyone remember the name of a game like this?
