Yea, using a large telescope in a polluted area is a bit of a waste, but
when you get out into the countryside, the larger telescope will perform a
lot better than the little one that you built for the polluted sky. I'll
note that if there are any lights in your area, the sky can quickly become
hard to see.  Even just moving a mile away from the lights can improve the
seeing a whole lot.
I'd build that 16" and enjoy it even in the city area that you are in. Bob May
