Hey Judy,
(Warm Huggies)
I think the biggest problem we have in the fellowships is the inability to
focus on ourselves. Many old timers have this profound problem. Instead of
continuing to work a personal program they work to control the recovery of
others. Soberity does not automatically relate to recovery. There are many
drunks with many years sober but not a lot of recovery...it works when you
work it is so very true. I know people that have stayed sober only working
steps 1, 2, 3, and 12. Anyway.....
I think the program teaches that we need to make decisions. I feel for
whatever it may be worth that the first one is wether or not you have to get
involved or will someone else do it for you. Also there is the thought that
maybe this is an oppertunity to practice in an area that you need to grow in.
Whatever you do you will need others. You can confront the current members
of the group that have made themselves leaders and not trusted servants. The
other option is to start another meeting. I personally would lean towards
starting another meeting, if you are up for it and allow the old farts their
own little kingdom.
To do nothing is to sell out yourself.
Hugs
Thom
