AC> Hi all, I am looking for info regarding setting for my antivirus to
AC> scan my internet download prior to saving to my download directory.
AC> I thought that when downloading from internet the antivirus was
AC> suppose to scan for virus and clear it as virus free and then lets you
AC> save it to your download directory. It does not do so when i download,
AC> the files i download goes straight to my download directory without
AC> being check by norton antivirus. Can someone tell me how to set norton
AC> to scan before saving to my download directory. Thank you for your
AC> help.
Can't you scan after they're downloaded? Very few viruses are
transported this way. The majority of virus infections "in the wild" are boot
sector and MBR infectors, and not file infectors. Your downloads are safe
while downloading them, but you should scan everything before you run/extract
it, and then afterwards as well, until you know that the program you're
running is safe to run. HTML and .GIF's can't infect you, and neither can a
.ZIP file.
