Ya know the older Zeniths Used an AC input filter for regulation
of the power Xformer..I think it is a 1.5 Mfd/AC(oilfilled cap)
also some of the Older TVs' used a Rect diode across the AC
switch to keep the CRT filiments (and tubes if any) half Lit.
Your dad may want to try that with His Old raido.
Just make shure that the (+) goes tword the (DC). powersupply
that'll keep the B+ from developing high enough to turn on the
set.
